Defendant:  Robert Ottendorf, 41,  Brattleboro, VT
It is alleged that on August 25, 2017 the Springfield PD got an anonymous phone call alerting that Robert Ottendorf may be at a residence in Springfield visiting a friend, and that Ottendorf had conditions of release and one of those conditions were to remain in his residence on 24 hour curfew except for a few minor exceptions. 
Ottendorf was located at a residence in Springfield, where as his residence is in Brattleboro, VT.
Ottendorf was cited to appear in Windham County Criminal Court (court for which his conditions had originally been issued from) on October 17th to answer to the alleged violation.

Defendant: Gregory Messer, 18, Springfield, VT
A complaint was received regarding a subject soliciting explicit photos from multiple subjects in the schools. During this investigation other non related incidents were disclosed that allegedly involved Gregory Messer. 
Further investigation of these other incidents yielded information that Gregory Messer allegedly restrained and forced sexual acts on numerous female subjects. Allegedly there were other incidents that Gregory sent explicit photos without consent. 
Gregory Messer was cited to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on August 21st and was issued conditions of release for the alleged offenses prior to being released.
On August 21st, following Messer's time of arraingment a No Bail warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to appear in court to answer to the above charges.  Messer was subsequently located at a local residence and was taken into custody by officers and lodged at SSCF until his arraignment on August 22nd.

On Wednesday, 08/16/2017 at approximately 15:56 hours, Springfield Police responded to a residence on Central St. in North Springfield for a reported fight. 
As a result of this investigation, Raymond Berry was arrested without incident for the alleged offense of 1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault. Berry was lodged at SSCF in Lieu of $25,000 cash or surety bail and arraigned on August 17th.

Springfield Police were dispatched to Pine St. in Springfield, VT for a report of suspicious circumstances. 
Upon investigation, Melissa Robinson was taken into custody for alleged Fugitive From Justice, False Information to a LEO and an active arrest warrant out of Vermont. Robinson was then lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or surety bail and was arraigned on August 21st.

Springfield Police were dispatched to Summer St. in Springfield, VT for a report of a suspicious circumstance. 
Upon investigation, Kathleen Fellows was cited into Windsor Superior Court-Criminal Division for alleged False Impersonation, False Pretenses, and Unauthorized Removal of Human Remains.
Fellows will appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on October 3rd to answer to the alleged charges.

Defendant:  Sarah King, 38, N. Springfield, VT
On August 18, 2017 a motor vehicle stop was made on a vehicle with a cracked windshield. Upon making contact with the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, she was identified as Sarah King.
It is alleged that Sarah has conditions of release out of Windham County indicating she is not allowed to operate a motor vehicle without a valid license. King's VT driver's license is civilly suspended for various reasons.
King was cited to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on August 21st to answer to the alleged charge.

It is alleged that on August 19, 2017 Sgt. Moriglioni pulled into a convenience store and observed a male subject getting into a motor vehicle and start it. Sgt. Moriglioni recognized the subject as John Johnston and knew he had been previously criminally suspended. After an alleged conversation with Johnston about operating the vehicle, he was issued a citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on October 10th for DLS-C.

Arrest - Disorderly Conduct

Defendant:  Seth Teaster, 23,  Chester, VT
On Monday, 31 July at approximately 3:00 p.m. Springfield Police responded to the Springfield Shopping Plaza for a report of firecrackers that had been set-off in the plaza. 
Upon arrival it was learned that some of these firecrackers had been thrown into and set-off within a business as well. At the conclusion of this investigation, Seth Teaster was cited for the alleged offense of Disorderly Conduct. 
Teaster will appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on September 19th to answer to the alleged charges.  

Arrest - Domestic Assault

Defendant:  Jared Smith, 57, Springfield, VT
Springfield Police received a report of a suicidal male at a residence on Connecticut River Road. Investigation found that male had made a remark that his wife made feel like he wants to kill himself during a domestic altercation. 
In speaking with the wife she advised Smith had grabbed her and thrown her around. This caused injuries to her. Smith was located at the couple's residence and was taken into custody without incident. He denied wanting to hurt himself. 
He was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit  on August 9th to answer to the allegation of Domestic Assault.

Defendant:  Shawn Michael Gilman, 46,  Ludlow, VT
Springfield Police were dispatched to Poppe Rd. in Springfield, VT for a report of a possible RFA violation. Upon investigation, Shawn Gilman was taken into custody for alleged violation of an Abuse Prevention Order.
Gilman was lodged at SSCF in lieu of 1,000 bail and was subsequently arraigned on August 9th.


Arrest - Felony Unlawful Mischief - Disorderly Contact

Defendant:  Raymond Spinelli, 18, Springfield, VT

On August 6th Officers responded to the ER to investigate the report of a male acting erratically and causing damage. Upon arrival officers were advised that Raymond Spinelli allegedly had severely damaged a bathroom and was causing a disturbance. He was initially issued a citation for the alleged damage. Officers were called back on August 7th for continuation of the behavior. On this date Spinelli had allegedly damaged the gurney in his room as well as the room itself. 

Spinelli was arrested and charged with Felony Unlawful Mischief and multiple counts of disorderly conduct.  Spinelli was transported directly to SSCF in lieu of $1500 cash or surety and was arraigned on August 8th.

Defendant:  Elio Merida-Martinez, 29, Westmoreland NH
On July 31st a female contacted the Springfield Police Department stating that her estranged husband allegedly had contacted her in violation of an abuse prevention order that was in effect. 
The husband was identified as Elio Merida-Martinez. Martinez was later contacted reference the alleged violation. Martinez appeared at the Department upon request and was processed for the  alleged violation and issued a citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on September 12th.

On Monday, August 14th at approximately 12:07 p.m. Springfield Police observed Timothy L. George on South St. George was allegedly found to be in violation of his court-ordered Conditions of Release. 

George was taken into custody without incident for the alleged offense of Criminal Contempt. 

George will appear in court at a later date to answer to this charge.

On Tuesday, August 15th at approximately 1:57 p.m. Springfield Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Kirk Meadow Road. 
As a result of this stop, the operator, Sarah B. King was taken into custody without incident for the alleged offense of Criminal Contempt. 
King was found to have allegedly violated her court-ordered Conditions of Release.  King will appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on September 19th to answer to this alleged charge.

On Monday,  August 14th, at approximately 10:10 a.m. Springfield Police learned that Jayde M. Smith had allegedly violated her court-ordered Conditions of Release. 
Smith was later cited to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on September 26th to answer to the alleged offense of Criminal Contempt.

On Wednesday, August 16th at approximately 8:51 a.m. Springfield Police were at a residence on Main St. in North Springfield on an unrelated matter. 
During this time, John L. Lawson was observed by Springfield Police allegedly violating a restraining order. 
Lawson was subsequently taken into custody for allegedly violating an abuse prevention order. Lawson will appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on August 17th to answer to the alleged charge.

Arrest - Disorderly Conduct - Threatening Behavior

Defendant:  Evan Willey, 22, Springfield VT

On August 13th it was alleged that a male subject later identified as Evan Willey, was in a window shouting threats and vulgar language at a group of people holding a fundraiser in front of Sheri's Restaurant.  Upon arrival the officer witnessed alleged behavior.

Willey was taken into custody without incident and following processing was released on a citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on October 10th.

Date of Arrest : August 3, 2017
Defendant:  Anthony Jones, 27, Newport, NH
While on patrol observed male and female walking south on Main Street by Woolson Block. Pair went into the flower beds in front of the library, looked around then continued south on the sidewalk. Made contact with the pair in front of the Furman building. Male identified himself as Anthony Jones. A routine check found that Jones had an active VT arrest warrant. Jones was taken into custody and lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility on the active warrant in lieu of $750 bail.



Vehicle VS Pedestrian Accident

On Tuesday, 08/01/2017 at approximately 14:00 hours, Springfield Police responded to the intersection of Park St. and Main St. for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed that a 2006 Ford Explorer had collided with an adult who was operating a motorized wheelchair.

The adult operator of the Ford Explorer didn't receive any injuries. The operator of the motorized wheelchair was transported to the Springfield Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The Springfield Police Department was assisted by the Springfield Fire Department and the Springfield Highway Department at the scene.
