Officer Lord William Singleton Graduation

The Springfield Police Department proudly announces the graduation of Lord William Singleton from the 105th Basic Training Class of the Vermont Police Academy located in Pittsford, VT.
Following graduation Officer Singleton will begin a 9 week Field Training course with the department where he will apply his training from the academy under the guidance of an FTO (Field Training Officer) who is an experienced or senior member of the department.
Please join us as we wish Officer Singleton much success as he continues on his path here at the Springfield Police Department!!!

Arrest - DUI

Defendant: Hunter S. Bowen, 22, East Dorset, Vermont
Summary of Incident:
On the evening of 05/20/18, Springfield Police responded to Commonwealth Avenue to assist the Springfield Fire Department with an unresponsive subject. 
Hunter Bowen was reportedly found in the driver's seat of his parked vehicle evidencing signs of alcohol consumption. Bowen was transported to Springfield Hospital to be treated for injuries allegedly sustained in an unrelated assault. 
Upon his discharge from the hospital, he was taken into custody and processed for suspicion of DUI. Bowen was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Unit, Criminal Division, on 5/29/18.

Summary of Incident:
Employee of Hillside Auto called to report a subject had just allegedly stole inspection stickers from the windshield of several vehicles parked at Hillside Auto located on Paddock Road, Springfield. 
Description of the suspect was obtained from the employee. Information was later provided indicating that Dwight Bundy had involvement in the alleged theft. 
Bundy was located later in the night and was issued a citation to appear in court to answer to the allegation of Petit Larceny.

Summary of Incident: A BOL was issued for a vehicle that was seen with the operator allegedly drinking beer and smelling of alcohol. The vehicle was reportedly southbound on the interstate from the Hartland Rest Area. The vehicle was located and was allegedly failing to maintain lane position. The operator showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. The operator has a prior conviction for DUI in 2017.
Bates was cited to appear in Windsor Country Criminal Court on 5/29/18 to answer to the alleged charge(s).

Defendant: Christopher Merritt / 35 / Springfield, VT
Summary of Incident: Springfield Police were notified that Christopher Merritt was on Conditions of Release and was allegedly violating those conditions by breaking an alleged 24 hour curfew. A check of court paperwork found that there was a 24 hour curfew imposed on Merritt. Merritt was found on Main Street and arrested for allegedly violating his conditions.
Christopher Merritt was cited to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on May 21, 2018 to answer to the alleged charge of Violation of Conditions of Release x 2. Christopher Merritt was subsequently lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000.00 cash or surety bail.

Summary of Incident: Officer responded to the Springfield Plaza to assist the Springfield Ambulance with a breathing but unresponsive male in a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officer's allegedly found heroin and prescription pill in Wright's possession. Wright allegedly did not have a valid prescription for the medication. A check of Wright's motor vehicle history found he was allegedly criminally suspended in the State of Vermont.
Shad Wright was cited to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on July 17, 2018 to answer to the alleged charges of DLS Criminal and Possession of Heroin.

Summary of Incident: Police responded to 12 Bacon Street in Springfield, Vermont for a report of a wanted female. Upon arrival, contact was made with Bethany Cabiya. A check of the state system found that Cabiya allegedly had a warrant for her arrest and allegedly had a Return on Mittimus.
Cabiya was served a citation for the offense of Arrest on Warrant, to appear on May 07, 2018 at 1230 hours, in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Addison Circuit, located in Middlebury, Vermont.
Cabiya was subsequently lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $5000.00 cash or surety bail and three days to serve on the Return on Mittimus.

Blanchard was cited to appear in Windsor County Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit on April 30, 2018 at 1230 hours to answer to the alleged charges and subsequently lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash or surety bail.

Summary of Incident: Officer responded to the Springfield Homeless Shelter for a report of vandalism to the front door. Upon arrival, video surveillance footage was reviewed and a male subject forcibly threw the front door open twice causing it to crack. The male subject was allegedly identified as James Dyer.
A check of pending court cases found that Dyer was allegedly on Conditions of Release. He allegedly violated his Conditions of Release due to the alleged above actions.
James Dyer (DOB 10-01-1987) was cited to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on June 12, 2018 to answer to the alleged charge of Unlawful Mischief and Violation of Conditions of Release.
